Dana - Donations / Practice of generosity meditation retreats
Some seminars marked with Dana in Karuna Haus have no fixed teacher fees / course fees. This stems from a traditional Buddhist principle that doctrine cannot be outweighed by any material value and that it should be accessible to all those interested free of charge. Therefore, teachers offer their work for free. However, to support their living costs and further teaching activities, they are dependent on voluntary donations at the end of the course.
“Dana” is Sanskrit and means "free gift", or "free donation". It is an important component of Buddhist education in the mind and heart, and it also corresponds to the core of Christianity, where generosity, joy of giving and helping are central.
Generosity as a spiritual practice is the practice of giving and receiving. It makes us think about our own priorities in life. What is really important to me in this life? What really makes me happy? Do I apply these findings in my behavior, in my decisions? What do I support and enable with my money, what do I use it for?
It is also possible to demonstrate generosity by offering a retreat to a student in a difficult financial situation through a separate donation.
We thank the teachers and students for their willingness to continue the tradition of the Dana in our modern times of fixed living requirements.
The accommodation costs, tourist tax and meals are the same as in all other seminars (see prices).
